Max Greyserman seized the early lead at the 2026 Biltmore Championship Asheville, opening with an eight-birdie 64 at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. His seven-under-par score gave him a one-shot advantage after the first round, with three players tied at six under and only 54 holes remaining. Greyserman, still seeking his first PGA Tour victory, will play the second round alongside Matthieu Pavon and Kristoffer Ventura at 1:27 p.m. ET from the 10th tee.
The second round is scheduled to begin at 7:20 a.m. ET Friday, with several notable groups teeing off early. Jackson Koivun, Jacob Bridgeman and Webb Simpson are grouped at 7:53 a.m., while Aaron Wise joins Ricky Castillo and Davis Thompson at 8:04 a.m. The afternoon features Nick Dunlap, Henrik Norlander and Zach Bauchou at 12:21 p.m., followed by Corey Conners, Ryo Hisatsune and Nico Echavarria at 12:43 p.m.
At Wentworth, Ryan Gerard made an immediate impact at the BMW PGA Championship after being passed over for the United States Presidents Cup team. Gerard shot a five-under 67 in the opening round and finished just one stroke behind the lead. The result followed a strong summer in which he recorded five top-25 finishes, including three top-10s in his final six PGA Tour starts.
Other Presidents Cup hopefuls also remained in contention. Patrick Reed opened with a 68, while J.J. Spaun and Alex Smalley posted 70s. The BMW PGA Championship is the DP World Tour’s flagship event, and Gerard’s participation is also important for retaining his DP World Tour membership next season. He said the tournament had attracted large crowds and praised the event as “very well run from top to bottom,” adding that he was pleased to continue competing after taking a week off.
