Solheim Cup Showdown: Korda Leads U.S. Charge as Europe Eyes Home-Soil Redemption

The Solheim Cup begins Friday at Bernardus Golf in Cromvoirt, Netherlands, with the United States and Europe set for another three-day team battle. The Americans are seeking to build on their 15½-12½ victory in 2024, while Europe will try to reclaim the Cup on home soil. Play will begin early each day, with Golf Channel coverage scheduled for 1:30 a.m. ET on Friday and Saturday and 5 a.m. ET on Sunday.

World No. 1 Nelly Korda headlines the U.S. side and arrives with a 10-5-1 Solheim Cup record across four appearances. Lauren Coughlin, who went 3-0-1 on debut in 2024, and Meghan Khang, unbeaten in her past two appearances, also bring strong team-event credentials. Angel Yin is expected to play after missing two months and losing 35 pounds because of stomach issues. Lindy Duncan will make her debut at age 35, while Alison Lee becomes the first mother to play in the event since Suzann Pettersen in 2019.

Europe’s lineup includes world No. 7 Lottie Woad, making her Solheim Cup debut, and world No. 8 Charley Hull, who will compete in her eighth edition. Carlota Ciganda is also a veteran of eight appearances and remains one of Europe’s most accomplished performers in the event. Major champions Celine Boutier and Maja Stark add further strength, while captain Anna Nordqvist brings nine Solheim Cup appearances to her first assignment as Europe’s leader. U.S. captain Angela Stanford played in six Solheims and completed the event’s largest comeback with a singles victory in 2015.

Bernardus Golf, about an hour south of Amsterdam, hosted the KLM Open and is expected to draw large crowds, with fans able to cycle from nearby Den Bosch to the course in roughly 20 to 30 minutes. The Solheim Cup follows Great Britain and Ireland’s dramatic Walker Cup comeback at Lahinch last week, which ended a six-year wait for victory. The Irish Open is also being played this week, with Rory McIlroy defending his title against a field that includes Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka.
